Sargent Tucker

                         Sargent Tucker
Sargent Tucker’s (ST) impetus for creating this music – “My desire is to write meaningful music with lyrics that inspires self-worth, values the experiences of relationships, and spreads infinite love to others”.

One of life’s major relationship challenges is transitioning through difficult, emotionally painful experiences, while maintaining a love for self, and others involved. Too often, when a relationship comes to an end, the departure seems unendurable. However, those who have lived a little know that trying times will pass.  As one matures, having peace of mind becomes the focus for achieving real-life success. Whether differences grow from cherishing material processions more than each other, or from engaging in drama, life goes on after losing someone, who can’t be replaced.  ST’s song, “No One Can Replace You”, was created to inspire self-value and hope in the midst of pain from ending a relationship.
New Orleans born; Sargent Tucker’s musical roots can be traced to the San Francisco Bay Area music scene. ST is a multi-talented, singer, musician, writer, and producer who considers himself a country boy at heart. By nature, ST is a loner.  Without any fear to stand-alone for what he believes, ST has never been a follower.  Absent of the need for personal recognition, ST prefers to edify the successes of others, rather than his own. ST doesn’t take himself too seriously, as he reminded us that, “music is only 12-notes”.  However, ST definitely takes his work seriously, similar to a perfectionist, which is his approach to nearly everything.  Music is ST’s love, but not his only love.  More than fortune, fame, or stardom, ST placed greater value on a promise to his mother to finish college (and graduated with honors from the University of California, Davis).

Sargent Tucker’s most recent release, “I Need Your Love” featuring Drizabone, charted #1 on the United Kingdom’s Solar Radio. His song “I AM Happy” was selected as the theme song for the Happiness Foundation, where ST was the featured performer at the Hollywood Global Happiness day; The honorees included Will Smith, Ellen Degeneres, Goldie Hawn, and Robbie Williams.  This event was sponsored by the International Happiness Foundation, Drai’s W Hotel, and Dr. Shelly Sykes, a USA Multiple Best-Selling Award-Winning Author. ST’s first release with Macola Records, "Come See Me,” (of the R&B genre) charted internationally and was featured on the "SUN SET STRIP" Compilation Album along with Hip Hop Pioneers: N.W.A. (Ice Cube) Dr. Dre’s Production of the “World Class Wreckin’ Cru”. Also, “Stop Telling Me” a song written by ST and recorded with the band “Two Things in One” (TTIO) was featured on the Grammy Nominated “Music City Story” compilation CD liner notes. Later, ST was inducted into the “Bay Area Blues Society Hall of Fame”, as a member of TTIO.

Currently, Sargent Tucker is writing and arranging new material. He is also in the studio recording a soon to be released new single titled, “No One Can Replace You”, written and arranged by ST.  Again, overseeing this production is Levi Seacer, Grammy Nominated Producer, and former Music Director of the late, great PRINCE. Summer 2019 is the tentatively scheduled release date. The studio musicians who contributed to this project include: Danny Thomas (Keyboardist) Co-founder of “Con-Funk Shun”, Carl Lockett, Legendary Bay Area (Guitarist); Lorenzo Hawkins (Keyboardist); Will Williams (Guitarist); Levi Seacer (Guitar & Keyboards), Cedric Wilmott, and Edwin Moore (Drums); and Sargent Tucker (Bass Guitar) Lead and background vocals.

MORE ROCKERS - Dubplate Selection Vol.1

MORE ROCKERS - Dubplate Selection Vol.1
Echo Beach138
CD (limited edition of 555 copies) &
Digital Download
Release Date: 03.05.2019

A long with Massive Attack, nobodyelse than MORE ROCKERS // Smith & Mighty // Rob Smith helped define the dark creation of art - of what came to be known as THE BRISTOL SOUND. In the late ´80s. Producers ROB SMITH perfected the blend of rare groove, hip-hop, reggae, ganja, dread, Bacharach and bass and jungle and drum & bass !
Peter Rose aka as PETER D. sometime collaborator and early member of Massive Attack hooked up with ROB SMITH and they formed MORE ROCKERS. Their talent of what would become their signature blend of dub stylings with Junglist tempos was amazing. It merged in the debut album DUB PLATE SELECTION Vol. 1 in 1995  and continued this pattern with rootical Jungle that could have come from some „nyabinghi“ session in Kingston...!!!
That sound is simple jungle breakbeats flavored with a masterful understanding of the dub sound system roots into DRUM & BASS. The first thing you notice is the heavy bass. A  deep round frequence that most electronic producers would die for to be able to create. It's that magical sound that feels completely natural, comforting supernaturally and powerful at the same time.

It is  progressing into a mixed affair, blending from track to track and quite heavy DJ based.  MCs, rappers, and female vocalists slither though  - through the perfect mix.

As ROB SMITH said recently : „ ...yes it's a killer album :) - and did you know that it was the first EVER artist based jungle/d&B album (even before Goldie's)...!!??  True it is and was...!

BPM Culture Magazine:

“This collection is definitely overdue. Rob Smith (ex-Smith & Mighty) and Peter D (part of the original Massive Attack line up), have been producing some of the most moving and memorable dub influenced breakbeat for years as More Rockers. Every selection delivers a powerful blend of early 90’s breaks, the mixing board tweaks of King Tubby, the moodiest Bristol aesthetic and emotional vocal talent from guests like Joanna Law, Henry & Louis, and Marilyn McFarlane. Their sound is comprised of every element that drew you to drum & bass and the dark alleys of Bristol in the first place, having an obvious influence on many artists that have emerged since then. So many artists from drum & bass to other sub-genres have prided themselves on pushing new styles and production techniques but More Rockers have created a style that is unparalleled and left best untouched by minute production details. “
